Staff Engineer

We are seeking a Staff Engineer in our Andover, MA office with an interest in climate resiliency, water harvesting, low impact development, landscape architecture, civil engineering, landscape irrigation, and water feature design to join our team. Aqueous is a well-established water resources engineering firm dedicated to preserving and conserving water for design projects worldwide. In this role, the Staff Engineer will support water-focused architectural design projects from early planning through documentation, working closely with experienced team members to develop drawings, calculations, reports, and design solutions for innovative built-environment projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the drafting and preparation of project plans, reports, and specifications.

  • Supporting the development of consulting reports used in water master planning, feasibility studies, and decision-making.

  • Performing calculations and design related to water harvesting, water feature, and irrigation systems.

  • Learning irrigation, water harvesting, and water features through design work and site visits.

  • Developing familiarity with government, client, and industry codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Interacting with Aqueous staff and clients.

  • Additional responsibilities and opportunities: developing a diverse skill set; creative problem solving; and fast-paced design schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD.

  • 0-3 years of applicable professional experience (Co-Op or Professional).

  • Knowledge and familiarity with site design processes.

  • Excellent technical and business writing skills.

  • Team player with a professional, positive attitude.

  • Professionalism and accountability when working in a flexible or hybrid work environment

  • Ability to work well independently and in teams.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT or ability to achieve EIT status.

  • Proficient at applying site plan design and engineering principles to develop effective solutions related to water.

  • Desire to acquire and apply new skills and techniques with application to project assignments.

  • Some experience with site development, landscape architecture, and civil engineering plan preparation.
